Call for Applications – Team Leader (m/f/d) Joint International Research Project (JIRP) Uganda 2026
The Centre for Rural Development (SLE), Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, is seeking an experienced Team Leader for a Joint International Research Project in Uganda within the GIZ-supported project “Peat4People – Sustainable peatland management for people, climate and biodiversity.”
Project focus:
Development of paludiculture-based business models and business matchmaking to support climate-resilient livelihoods and peatland restoration in Uganda, with a strong focus on income generation for local communities and women.
Key tasks:
Overall leadership of the JIRP (planning, implementation, reporting)
Guidance of an international, interdisciplinary team of Young Professionals
Development and assessment of paludiculture business models and value chains
Capacity-building approach and training materials
Stakeholder engagement and field research in Uganda
Final study report and policy recommendations (English, with EN/DE summary)
Requirements:
MSc/PhD in a relevant field (e.g. agricultural or environmental economics, rural development)
Proven experience in business model development, value chain analysis, PES or carbon finance
Experience in participatory research and working in Uganda
Strong leadership, analytical and writing skills
Duration: June–December 2026 (full-time) Remuneration: to be negotiated according to SLE honorary regulations (travel and subsistence expenses are reimbursed separately)
